TexturePacker is a graphic design utility app that can help texture artists to streamline the process of sprite sheet generation, with automated support for high-resolution images, scaling, and publishing of finished projects to all compatible devices in a single click.

The app supports importing of all the major image formats (PSD, PNG, TGA, JPG, TIFF, BMP, and SWF), file or folder drag & drop import, automatic collection, and organization of sprites (with preserved folder structure as part of the sprite names).

TexturePacker is able to pack multiple sprite sheets at once, create additional sheets to make a place for all your sprites, sort the sprites into specific categories (characters, backgrounds, trees, etc.), and much more without straining both your and client system.

By utilizing Texture Packer Tool, your visual, interactive, or gaming project can reduce the number of files it requires to load, reducing the strain on client systems, save memory resources, increase framerate, make animations run smoother, increase game boot times, and preserve visual quality even after all your sprites go through effective compression.

The app can also trim and crop your sprites, thus reducing their texture size, reducing the size of your sprite sheets, and enabling faster rendering of 2D art.

Other features include better handling of repeated sprites (all still accessible with their original name), creation of transparency masks, and two layout algorithms.

If you are a game developer whose games have extensive sprite use, TexturePacker will be a perfect app for you. To provide a more streamlined experience for game developers, It has built-in support for all major 2D-focused multiplatform engines currently in popular use. This includes Unity, HTM5/CSS Sprites, Cocos2D, SpriteKit, Starling, Sparrow, LibGDX, and many others.

Textures can be encrypted with fast, reliable, and secure algorithms, and the integrated support for game engine exporting can be expanded with the use of customized export formats.

In addition to yearly or lifetime license purchases, the Texture Packer app can also be tested via a FREE trial.

Features

Grid Packing: Packs sprites in an evenly spaced grid; best for engines without data file support.

Basic Algorithm: Fills sheets top to bottom, fast but less space-efficient.

MaxRects Packing: Minimizes sheet size by filling gaps between sprites; needs sheet data support.

Polygon Packing: Removes transparent areas for tighter packing; requires polygon support (e.g., Unity).

Trimming: Cuts transparent edges to save memory and boost performance.

Alias Detection: Identical sprites are packed once, saving space in animations.

Multipack: Packs all sprites into the fewest sheets automatically.

Filters: Group sprites by custom rules (e.g., backgrounds, sizes).

Drag & Drop UI: Easy setup with folder drop for quick packing.

Smart Folders: Auto-detects sprite changes and updates sheets.

Multi-Resolution Support: Downscales sprites for all device sizes with one click.

PNG Optimization: Compresses with PngQuant and Zopfli for smaller downloads.

Hardware Compression: Supports ETC, PVRTC, DXT, ASTC, BASIS, and more to reduce memory usage.

Pixel Format Options: Includes various compressed and standard formats.

Artifact Reduction: Eliminates flickering lines, halos, and jagged edges.

9-Patch Editor: Ideal for scalable UI elements like buttons and boxes.

Pivot Editor: Set precise pivot points with real-time animation preview.

Animation Preview: Edit and watch sprite animations live.

Sprite Sheet Splitter: Reuse and re-pack existing sprite sheets.
