Overwolf is a gaming utility that allows video game players on the PC platform to infuse their gaming sessions with an interactive visual overlay that features personalized apps and extensions for keeping in touch with various other websites, social networks, friends, family, and much more.

The most common use case scenario for this lightweight app is to maintain constant access to other websites while inside the gaming session, without the need to switch from the gaming action to the system browser.

Built on top of HTML and JavaScript, Overwolf today allows users to infuse their gaming sessions with a wide array of 3rd party apps and extensions, with full access to make their own fully customizable app that perfectly fits their needs.

Originally introduced in the early 2010s, this powerful software platform quickly attracted the attention of the worldwide audience and amassed over 3 million users by the end of 2013. Today, Overwolf is directly collaborating with some of the largest companies in the gaming world, including Intel, Electronic Arts, Teamspeak, and others.

Many modern competitive and eSport games have introduced strict measures against gaming applications that run concurrently with the games (mostly to prevent and discourage the use of cheats), but Overwolf is built in such a way that it does not interact with the native game script, and it always strives to be unobtrusive.

Some of the most popular extensions that are today used with this handy utility are stat trackers for popular competitive games such as PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, Valorant, Hearthstone, and many others. Those and many other extension apps offer a wide array of real-time game events, full support for overlay and second-screen functionality, and even a way to monetize the extension and build a new business that will cater to the gamer’s needs.

After installing the app, users are nudged to visit the official Overwolf Appstore that currently lists extensions for all major eSport and competitive PC titles including League of Legends, Valorant, Apex Legends, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, DOTA 2, Rainbow Six Siege, World of Tanks, GTA V, World of Warcraft and many others.

The extensions can be filtered into various categories such as Skins, Enemy Stat tracking, Communication, Capture & Stream, Music & Video, Social, Utilities, and others. Overwolf can be downloaded and used for FREE on all modern versions of Windows OS.
