Every online backup program claims to be easy to use—it’s practically a cliché. At Backblaze, we were determined to make that promise a reality from start to finish. Take the installation process, for example.

Unlike other programs, Backblaze doesn’t require users to sift through file types or hunt for folders to back up. Most people aren’t sure where all their important files are stored, and we didn’t want them to worry about updating their backup settings every time they create a new folder.

Yes, this approach might back up some extra files, but the simplicity and peace of mind are worth it. Our goal was to make it possible for users to download, install, and start backing up their data in under a minute. And we delivered: the best PC backup software in the world.

The program does not want to waste your bandwidth or the tool datacenter disk space. Thus, it does not back up your operating system, application folder, or temporary internet files that are transient and would not be useful in the future. It also excludes podcasts in iTunes.

Every online backup program says they are easy to use. It's almost become a cliche. But at the tool really wanted that to be true from start to finish. An example is the install experience.

You can see these exclusions by clicking on “Settings” in the app Control Panel and selecting the Exclusions tab. These exclusions can be removed! Some of these excluded files are:

• SYS (System Configuration & Drivers)
• EXE (Application Files)

Backblaze for PC will keep versions of a file that changes for up to 30 days. However, It is not designed as an additional storage system when you run out of space.

It mirrors your drive. If you delete your data, it will be deleted from the tool after 30 days. The app also doesn't backup backups like Time Machine and Retrospect RDB.

Your external hard drives need to be connected to your computer and scanned by Back blaze at least once every 30 days in order to keep them backed up.
