American Truck Simulator (also known as ATS) is a vehicle and business simulation game developed and published by Czech company SCS Software in early 2016.

It is a sequel and a spinoff to the incredibly popular title Euro Truck Simulator 2 and is at the same time the spiritual successor of the “18 Wheels of Steel” franchise that was managed by SCS Software between 2002 and 2011.

The game is focused on emulating the authentic experience of driving large cargo trucks across the realistically depicted West Coast of the United States, with extensive business management elements in which gamers have to search, organize, and perform various business tasks to grow their truck-driving business.

Built on top of the capable ETS2 engine, the American Truck Simulator for PC easily showcases a detailed visual representation of the United States, many models of popular American trucks, and realistic driving physics.

Gamers are required to emulate the life of truck drivers as much as possible, following all the driving rules and delivering cargo on time and undamaged.

Earned in-game money can be used for repairing and upgrading trucks, paying off bank loans, purchasing new vehicles, and even hiring other drivers who will drive for your own logistics company.

After a while, players will have to invest more time managing their business and fleet of trucks, transforming this game into a very capable business simulator.

The core version of the American Truck Simulator Game features two playable regions of the US – California (the largest playable area in the game with 22 cities that can be visited, a realistic 55mph driving limit, and many famous locations) and Nevada (added for free post-launch, with 10 cities).

Throughout the life of this game, many new areas were added via free or premium updates – Arizona (16 cities), New Mexico (14 cities), Oregon (14 cities), Washington (16 cities), and Utah (10 cities).

All the states present in the game are modeled realistically, but with size reduction at the scale of 1:20. Since this game is still under active development, several more expansions were announced for future release, including Idaho and Colorado. As of today, the game features 92 visitable cities, intending to expand it to at least 110.

Truck brands that are present in the game include Peterbilt, Kenworth, Volvo, International Trucks, and Mack.

With the great driving model, engaging business management mode, beautiful trucks, and environments, realistic representation of many US States, access to live internet radio stations, and an incredible variety of driving challenges, it represents one of the best serious driving simulation games that can be played today.
